November 2009 Bold Babble

Greetings gang. Here we are in November and I am empty handed for artwork, no Halloween drawing. I suck, I know.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a good October and Halloween. My daughter went as a werewolf. Last year she was Hannah Montana, so go figure. And now we can look forward to another holiday coming up. Ya know they've already been putting out X-mas stuff, for the past 3 weeks. Why don't they just keep the stuff up all year round? sheesh.

It's been pretty nasty weather here in Minnesota, cold, windy and rain. Hell, we've had more rain in the last month than all year. Makes being outside doing stuff a little difficult. On a good note the Vikes are 7-1 going into the bye week. I hate to jump the gun but this may be the year.

Well, unless anyone has anything else to bring up....hmmm? You? Oh I thought you had your hand up....no one? Quiet bunch huh? Ok, then have yourselves a happy Thanksgiving and keep the art coming.

BOLD BABBLE for October 2009 Halloween Edition

I just thought saying "Halloween Edition" gave it more of a important sound, but alas, it is not. lol. I know some of you, like Morgan, love this time of year and have traditions like the Pumpkin Queen and others. So make sure you find some time to do a little project with a Halloween theme.

Fall is here and this is the best time of year for me. The changing of leaves, the smells, the cooler weather...it's just a great time. Some of you may have cameras and maybe you could take a picture of your neck of the woods with the leaves changing color and then post them. It would be cool to see different areas of the country during Fall. So if you got a digital camera get out there and take a few snaps and post them. Or you can post your pumpkins or decorations around your house or perhaps you get into costume, post that.

Football season is in full swing and the Vikes are 3-0 with their first Monday Night game tonight against the cry baby Packers. Hopefully we go into Lambeau and Favre can work his magic again. What team are you guys pulling for?

It's great to see all the good art and you've all been busy. When life gets in the way, it's hard to find the time to commit to drawing or painting or whatever. So even though I may not find the time to post, seeing everyone here put out some great stuff is inspirational and motivating. Keep up the great work!

Tell next month....

Bold Babble for 1 September 2009

Whoa, did August go by fast or what? Now we enter my favorite time of the year. Fall. Which brings the leaves changing color, the smells, football season, cooler weather and shorter days.

This summer I managed to put in a brick patio and new stairs off my deck. I had my first grilling and have had a couple fires in my pit. All my life I've lived in apartments so to be able to finally enjoy a home is awesome. Sure, it's more work, but that never hurt anyone.

I'm still trying to finish insulating and putting up drywall in my garage, I'm about 60% done and I need to finish before it gets too cold.

I've also been drawing a little more and that feels good. I think if I didn't have this community I probably wouldn't be drawing at all. Having you guys helps motivate and inspire me to move forward. Thanks for that.

It seems everyone is pretty busy with work and projects like Ker and his new toyline, Morgan and the school and others working on comics. Just be sure to post here once in awhile to let us know whats going on.

See ya next month, Force

Bold Babble August 2009

Hey, guess what? Today is my Birthday, whoopty friggin do. 38 years old and closing down the barrel of 40. Anyway, we've quietly moved from GM to Bold once again, you know Morgan doesn't like us to stay in one spot to long. What with the government agents breathing down our necks and rogue nations always searching for a way to destroy us. Keep moving and keep them guessing. J/K.

Personally, I've been getting that artistic itch lately and I've been drawing more in the last few weeks than I have in the last year. Sometimes I wish our community was like the old days with daily art, several folks talking in the shoutbox just shooting the breeze, etc etc. But life changes and things slow down I spose. Hell, I know I've been preoccupied with working around the house here.

Let's see, what else? Oh, GI Joe opened this weekend. I might go check it out tonight. District 9 looks like a good sci fi movie as well. Anyone going to any comic cons in their area? Do any of you read comics anymore? lol.

Keep at the art everyone, don't let it fall to the wayside like I did. Enjoy the last month of Summer.

July 2009 I know, you are expecting Force to excite you with his monthly news... Sorry this is Morgan talking this time, so take a break Force.

The site has been moved and this is your new home. I hope that everyone will stick around and continue to show us all the great art work that you all have produced through the years.

Like any move you might find a few bugs so let me know and I will correct them. Now let's talk about the future. I plan to streamline the site taking away some features and adding some new ones so keep your eye out for the changes.

That's about it Ex-Mousers, guess you will have to come up with a new name to call us like the Bolders or something lol

Ramblings for May 2009Greetings all. May is upon us and the year is almost half done, how many days until X-mas? Tonight, Xmen Origins hits theaters which will lead off the summer of blockbusters. Hope to catch it this weekend.

Noticed that GM has been rather slow lately, well, slower than usual. Where's the faces of Morgan and Hope? Tazman? KER, Walley and anyone else? Sure, sure, I'm not uploading mass quantities of pics either, just wondering how everyone is doing and what is keeping them busy.

I just got some brick pavers and rocks to start edging my garage and make a patio area for a barbeque. That and I will be insulating and putting up drywall in my garage has me busy. I love being able to work outside on the house.

Star, you need to send me your idea for the next D/O via email or PM asap.

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping up their art.

April 2009 Ramblings

And April is upon us, with rain and crappy weather. I have literally been going out of my mind waiting for warm weather so I can get my garage hooked up with electricity and start insulating so then I can start hanging out there and do some wood work and other manly things.

I went to see Watchmen the other day and since I didn't read the Novel yet, I didn't have any preconceived notions about how the movie should be. The way I measure a movie, if it is good or not, is if right after watching it, do I want to go see it again? Well, I feel that Watchmen is that good. The movie seemed to be more story driven than action and there wasn't very many scenes of costumed fighting, but the characters and story were good enough to hold my attention.

I don't know how many of you actually read comics anymore, but I was looking through my Mom's Wizard magazine recently and it just boggles my mind how many different titles are out there. How can anyone stay loyal to one title, artist or writer when folks change so often and there are so many story arcs to follow? I yearn for simpler times when I could pick up an Iron Man book and know I didn't have to follow the story into several other different titles to get the complete ending. Sure, the talent out there are great, I certainly like the more stylized and realistic approach to comics but there is such a thing as to much flash.

I think that all of our entries in the Draw/off were worthy of becoming actual cartoons. Look at all the lame ideas that come to tv, be it sitcoms or dramas that last 2 episodes or even kids programs that seem assinine. All of the ideas presented here seem like shows I would watch and get into. Now, that may be a good thing or a bad thing, you decide. lol

Until next month,

March 2009 Ramblings

Well March is upon us, I'm sure some of you will be following College Basketball and getting into that fever. Winter is almost over and soon days of fun in the sun will be coming. Watchmen starts this Friday and I hope to go see it this weekend. Aside from the usual, there really isn't anything new going on to ramble about. lol

Remember the Draw/off, make your own cartoon characters. Have fun!!

To anyone having a March Birthday, like my daughter, congrats and Happy Birthday.

If anyone has any major announcements, let me know and I can always put them up here in the Ramblings section.

As always, thanks for everyones continued participation and great art. Have a Happy St. Patricks day and stay safe.
