The MD/O has had some slumps before and you guys know I love it. I just want to make sure everyone is still interested. I mean look at all the cool drawings that have come out of the D/O.

I do have an idea about revamping the rules. What if instead of the winner picking the theme, we either take turns or compile a list and vote?

That way we make sure everyone has their idea heard and avoid having the same few people doing the theme. (I've had some good stuff but I never win lol).

So, what do y'all think?

Good Idea force! - Maybe we can each submit an idea and Bold can post a poll to vote on it...One rule you vote you participate!

Sounds good to me Webby. Anyone else want to comment? Anyone else care if the MD/O continues or not? Speak up folks.

I dunno. Perhaps its biased for me to offer an opinion. As one who has won a few times I like the idea of the winner submitting the next D/O theme, but on the other hand I can understand how some of the others who have not had the honor of winning may feel..you too would like your ideas brought to light. I would hate to see the D/O vanish [losing the Gratti Wall was bad enough]..it has been a stallworth from wayy back in the Bold/HM days and has always been one of my favorites. Besides eventhough I have been on a 3D craze as of late I still like the idea of having something that deals strictly with 2D art. The poll idea sounds good but then there is no promise that everyone's idea will be voted on. Why not simply do it in order of members with each one having a turn that way we will insure that everyone's idea will be done. I know that I should be the last to talk about participation, given my failure to offer an entry this time around, but you gotta remember that we do this for fun and usually people have fun when they want to or have the time. Don't get discouraged when we have a low turnout. Some pics are better than none.

I have never won a draw off and still participate in it. I like the concept and the idea and do not want to see it go to the wayside.

Going in member order is technically more fair, but there's no guarantee that the next person in line would be able to submit something. Therefore asking everyone for ideas and then voting is actually the better solution even though not everyone's idea would be voted for. The member order thing seemed to work fine for the graffiti wall, but then again that was based on sign-ups. Not every member here has participated in the draw-off either, it's usually the same core group of us. So, I say we go for the idea submissions and voting.

granted. but this too would be based on member signup or rather member idea submission. intially ev ryone with an idea would submit it and they then would be voted on with the winner being chosen for that month. the following month only the submissions that didn't win would be voted on...and so on until every idea is eventually chosen. as it is i count at the very least 10 members who can be counted on to at least participate on a regular basis.. Darth Paul, Webgeek, Morgan, Taz, Force, Temporal Dave, Myself and on rare occasions Hope, LePijon, Ker1 and Marv T Martian. So this would be enough to carry us for the entire year. Ideas would be submitted at the begining of each year. Sounds good?

I guess since we only had a couple entries and it's been a few years now, I will officially close this contest and we will try the new regulations.

Hey gang, sorry it's been so long but with the holidays and my computer being such a pain in the ass, I haven't been online. Right now I'm using my PS3 to go online which doesn't let me do everything I want but it's something.

As far as the contest goes, I just don't see it happening right now. I've been running this thing, more or less, for over 4 years and it may be time for a break. The thing I wanted to see with the D/O is people getting their pencils out and sharing some great art. I think we've seen some folks grow and get better and we've seen some kick ass work from guys like Temporal Dave and Morgan.

So for right now let's just move forward and maybe do some other great things.

I LIVE!!
I haven't succumbed to the temporal void, or perished in a blaze of glory.
Just struggling with balancing work, art, bowling and drinkin. Life. meh.
I owe The Bolders some reviews and some new art for the new year and I endeavour to step things up soon.
As for the Draw Off, I will personally find it especially more difficult to post new stuff here tho if the D/O evaporates, as I find it one of the strongest motivators for me in completing anything new.
What may encourage more participation from those consistantly on the fence would be a prize of some description. I thought the generous option of the winning artwork enhanced with colour as a prize was cool and enticing - but who has the time to do it?! I believe that's why the idea phased out rather quickly. Personally, I don't need any extra encouragement than the challenge (and of course, time).
Whats wrong with hosting the contest even with tiny numbers for participation tho? Member activity is always transitional in its intensity, so I don't think there's even any reason to panic and consider the D/O's termination.
None of this is my call of course.
Incidently tho, did we even have a vote for D/O #20? Who took the honours?
I'll be back.

Dave Thanks for checking in!
I think there were only a few entries into the DO so no vote. Please feel free to submit - why not!
Look forward to seeing your work!
